Ann Cox Appolonia, 88, of Monongahela, died Thursday, May 15, 2025 in Haven Crest Nursing Center, Monongahela. She was born January 11, 1937 in New Eagle, the daughter of Walter and Rose Fusco Cox.

Ann was a 1954 graduate of Monongahela High School. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.

After high school, Ann worked as a server at Tom Ann Fred's Hot Dog Stand, where Cox's Market now stands. It was there she met her husband, Joseph. She continued working at the family business as produce manager until her retirement, and was affectionately known as Aunt Annie to everyone at Cox's.

Ann's sole dedication in life was taking care of her family. In her later years, you could find her in the stands watching her granddaughters play soccer, where she was known as Grammy Ann.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Appolonia of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Larry Appolonia of Monongahela, Dann (Diane) Appolonia of West Newton; eight grandchildren, Michael (Julie), Joseph (Jordyn), Kathryn, Leigh, John, Corynn, Gianna, and Justine Appolonia; three great grandchildren, Aria, Anthony, and Nora Appolonia; two sisters-in-law, Esther Cox of Monongahela, Bonnie Cox of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Appolonia, Jr.; and two brothers, Tom and Fred Cox.

Friends will be received on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 10:00-10:30 AM in the funeral home. Everyone will then go in procession to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 911 Howard Street, Monongahela where services will begin at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Rebecca Dittenhafer officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
