Ann Powelcheck Bilak's Obituary
Ann Powelcheck Bilak, 97, of Elizabeth, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela. She was born November 27, 1919 in Manown, the daughter of Ignatius and Mary Fedor Powelcheck.
Ann was a lifelong and the oldest member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Monongahela. She retired as a cook from the cafeteria at Elizabeth Forward Junior and Senior High School. After retirement, her and her husband, Chuck traveled to Hilton Head Island where they spent their winters. Ann enjoyed needle point, cooking and was an excellent seamstress. She was an avid Steeler fan, and also loved watching the golf and cooking channels on television.
Ann was an aunt and Godmother to many nieces and nephews and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bilak whom she married in 1944; four brothers, John Zagurasky, Michael, Peter and Andrew Powelcheck; and four sisters, Mary Legeza, Helen Koval, Susan Marchewka and Steffie Walters.
Friends will be received on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9-10 AM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. George Yatsko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the 7th floor west nurses at the Monongahela Valley Hospital, the staff of the Mon Valley Care Center and Amedysis Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to Ann.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 508 High Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
