Barbara M. Hitcho's Obituary
Barbara M. Hitcho, 65, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born December 8, 1951 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Paul and Angelina D'Amario Miereczko.
Barb was a graduate of South Allegheny High School, class of 1969. After high school, she attended cosmetology school and was employed at Cox's in McKeesport and Millers in Monroeville and the South Hills as a wig stylist. From 1983 until 2015, she and her husband Rich, owned and operated Hitch's Hut in Monongahela. She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Church in Monongahela. Barb enjoyed bowling, baking and making wine. She lovingly raised her grandson, Shane and cherished every moment she spent with him. One of their favorite things to do together was going to Kennywood.
She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Hitcho with whom she celebrated forty four years of marriage on June 30, 2017; son, Todd Hitcho of Monongahela; grandson, Shane Hitcho; two sisters, Mary Stokes and husband Jim of West Newton, Paula Pagnotta and husband Frank of McKeesport; brother, Paul Miereczko of Glassport; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Trent Hitcho who died September 12, 2003.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where a blessing service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:30 AM with the Rev. William Terza officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
