Betty J. Gerba's Obituary
Betty J. Gerba, 88, of Finleyville, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born September 19, 1929 in Library, the daughter of Coy and Susie Richards Stump.
Growing up in the Finleyville area, Betty met her husband John and raised seven children. She had been employed at Radio Ear in McMurray until it's closing and also for the Ringgold school district as a custodian. Betty loved to bake and feed people. She was loved and known by many family members and people in the community and will be remembered for being a wonderful, loving, caring (sometimes ornery), hard working wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed but never forgotten.
She is survived by her seven children, Bill Gerba and wife Mary of Warren, Ohio, Linda Garrett and husband Bill of Colorado, Cathy Watters and husband Curt of Eighty Four, Coy Gerba and wife Judy, and Jerry Gerba and wife Jone, all of Monongahela, Terrie Thomas and husband Robert of Waynesburg, John Gerba and wife Diane of Finleyville; twenty one grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; sister, Grace Gerba of Glendale, Arizona.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Gerba, Jr. who died May 6, 2000; six brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Donna Schmoyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Finleyville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America Keystone Chapter, 1113 Main Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
