David
Bozzi
May 17, 1949 — Aug 22, 2021
Lansing
David Vincent Bozzi, born May 17, 1949, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan at age 72. He is survived by the mother of his children, Irma Bravo Bozzi; daughter, Anita Bozzi; son, Anthony Bozzi; daughter-in-law, Katelyn Bozzi; granddaughter, Marley Bozzi; sisters, Susan Bozzi Basu and Anita Bozzi Epolito; and many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Born at Monongahela Memorial Hospital in New Eagle, Pennsylvania, to the late Vincent F. and Anna Sabo Bozzi, he spent his childhood on Park Avenue in Monongahela and Liberty Borough. He graduated from McKeesport Vocational High School. Early in his life, he developed a fascination with all things mechanical, especially the fast ones. He served honorably in the US Air Force between 1968 - 1972 as a plane mechanic. Toward the end of his service, his Air Force buddy and future brother-in-law, Joe Bravo and he rode their Triumph motorcycles on an epic trip down the Alaska Highway in 1972 to San Francisco. After the Air Force, David and Irma started their family in San Francisco, California.
In San Francisco, David worked as a stationary engineer at SF Municipal Water Company where he developed a deep fund of knowledge that he would use throughout his career. At the USDA in conjunction with Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) and CR3, he created a system that recycled municipal and agricultural waste into usable biofuels. His foundational contributions to green energy systems were patented and published in several scientific journals.
After retirement, David moved to Lansing Michigan. Here he finally had the workshop of his dreams, where he reveled in lovingly restoring his Triumph motorcycles and spending time with his grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was a passionate train enthusiast throughout his life, continuing to take cross country train trips as often as he could.
David Bozzi triumphed in living his life as a pioneer, harnessing his passion for science to propel him into far and uncharted territory. His adventurous spirit, loving devotion, and sharp wit will dearly be missed.
