Faye Marie Frye, 84, entered into rest on October 27, 2026 at the Residence at Hilltop in Carroll Township, where she had been residing since October 2024. Faye was born in 1942 and was a life-long Monongahela resident.
Faye graduated from Monongahela High School, class of 1960. For most of Faye's working life she was employed in the Frye family businesses including Frye Lumber, Frye Home Center, Frye Construction, and Frye Restoration having served in nearly every administrative capacity and also as vice-president, and treasurer. She received numerous awards over the years for her achievements and service to the building materials, hardware, home improvement, and restoration industries.
Faye was a "people person" as evidenced by the many ways she served the Monongahela community including Girl Scout trustee and leader, director of the Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce, organizer for the Monongahela Area Camp For The Deaf, President of the Monongahela Aquatorium Commission, member of the First United Methodist Church, and Monongahela High School Class of 1960 reunion committee. One of the largest annual summer events in Washington County beginning in 1988 was the Monongahela River Festival, for which Faye served as one of its organizers and leaders for many years including being chairperson of the Festival committee.
Faye received many accolades for her lifetime of community service including outstanding community service award from the Monongahela Area Revitalization Corp and the Mon Valley Leathernecks award for her services to the Toys-For-Tots Program sponsored by the United States Marine Corps.
Faye's personal passion, however, involved anything and everything artistic including arts, crafts, floral design, home interior design and décor. She won many community-sponsored holiday season home decorating contests. She utilized a unique art style known as Zentangle to produce countless hand-made one-of-a-kind multi-color productions such as greeting cards and momento books.
Faye was preceded in death by her father, Laurence V. Frye in 1974, mother, Mary Urli Frye in 1978, her brother, Joseph U. Frye in 2012, her sister, Anna Mary "Dee Dee" Frye in 2025, and several cousins.
Special thanks to all the staff at Cambridge Hillside, the VITAS Hospice, Residence at Hilltop, OSPTA Home Health, Palliative Care, and OSPTA Hospice nurses and aids for their attentive and tireless care given to Faye, and to Faye's family, friends, and others who faithfully sent greetings cards and flowers, visited, and otherwise encouraged and served her.
Friends will be received at the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 W. Main Street, Monongahela on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 10-11 AM, the hour of service with the Rev. Oscar Chambers officiating. Interment will be private in the Monongahela Cemetery.
