Obituary

George M. Ulakovich, 74, of Monongahela, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 18, 1951, in McKeesport, to the late George C. and Clara (Thomas) Ulakovich. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles "Chuck" Ulakovich.

George is survived by his wife, Janet (Villella) Ulakovich of 49 years. He was a proud father to his son, Michael Ulakovich, and his daughter, Lesa (Sean) Trunzo. Of all the titles he held, one of his favorites was "Pappy." His granddaughter, Noelle Trunzo, brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Kathy) Ulakovich, and many cousins and friends.

George dedicated nearly 30 years to the Maintenance Department of the Ringgold School District before retiring in 2017. Before that, he worked at Volkswagen in New Stanton until its closure and later with the Carroll Township Road Department.

George filled his life with the things he loved. He enjoyed bowling for many years with the New Eagle Men's Leagues and the Brunswick Couples League with Janet. He was a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt, could often be found eating popcorn and watching The Three Stooges or a James Bond movie, and took great pride in his collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia. He loved drawing and had a talent for making beautiful wood crafts.

One of George's greatest joys was spending time at Put-in-Bay. He especially loved exploring the island and driving the golf cart around with family creating memories and laughs.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 5-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 W. Main Street, Monongahela, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
