Gloria "Jean" Harbaugh's Obituary
Gloria "Jean" Harbaugh, 66, of New Eagle, died Monday, October 17, 2016 in her home. She was born December 25, 1949 in Uniontown, the daughter of the late Amos and Margaret Garybush Layhue.
Jean was a 1968 graduate of South Allegheny High School and the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy in Charleroi. She became a licensed beautician working in Monongahela for tweny five years. She owned and operated Gloria "Jean" Harbaugh Beauty Salon until its closing in 2010 and was a member of the First Christian Church in Monongahela. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, watching them since they were infants and always being involved in their lives as they got older. Jean enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, watching sports, especially the Pirates, going to the casino and cooking.
She is survived by her son, John Harbaugh and wife Lauren of Carroll Township; three grandchildren, Jared, Ashley and Levi Harbaugh; fiance', Gary Baker with whom she shared fourteen years; brother, Wayne Layhue; and three sisters, Lydia "Babe" Rymarowicz, Becky Helmantoler and Dee Dee Layhue, all of Glassport.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Harbaugh who died in 1979 and a brother, Ralph Layhue.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Charles Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 630 Chess Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
