Helen Flowers, 91, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, formerly of Bunola, died Wednesday April 12, 2017 in her home. She was born June 3, 1925, in Fredericktown, the daughter of Theodore and Anna Hornyak Skirpan. Helen was employed at the former Halpern Costume Factory in New Eagle. She was a loving, kind and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. Her interests carried into her later life include listening to band music, traveling and daily walks. She enjoyed participating in community fundraising events, loved to travel in the United States, particularly to national parks and historic sites, enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, playing bridge and going to the casino. She is survived by her son, Danny E. Flowers of Goose Creek, South Carolina; granddaughter, Sarah B. Flowers; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty seven years, Ernest W. Flowers, on Oct 29, 1994; four brothers, Michael, Peter, Joseph and Paul Skirpan; and two sisters, Anna Nickolas and Mary Myor. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 W. Main Street, Monongahela, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with the Rev. William Lytle officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to a charity of one's choice.
