Obituary

Iowa Gay Cutright Hermann of Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, was born December 10, 1939  and passed away at the home of her daughter in Killeen, Texas on February 9, 2026.

Iowa was the daughter of Boyd and Margaret Mullen Cutright, born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. She had six siblings and grew up surrounded by a large, loving family. She attended Monongahela High School and graduated with the class of 1957.

Iowa married her husband, William Francis Hermann, on January 20, 1958. They were married for 57 years. During these years, they built a life together with their 4 children. During their marriage, they lived in both Pennsylvania and Texas, but Bentleyville, Pennsylvania was home.

Family was one of the great joys in Iowa's life and she always made sure everyone had a place at her table for Sunday meals and holidays. She found great joy in children and the births of new babies. She remained close to her siblings throughout her life, making sure her large family didn't drift apart.

She took great pride in finding joy in a simple life. Her life was her testament to her love of the Lord. She made keeping a tidy home look effortless and always had a cup of coffee and a cookie waiting for family or friends. Iowa could often be found on her porch, enjoying the sunshine and God's creation. Food was one of her love languages and though she is no longer with us in body, her love will live on through the recipes created and shared with her family and friends. She had a great appreciation for shopping, and her great taste in shoes and purses will live on in her daughters and granddaughters.

Iowa worked at Walmart for over 20 years. On Mondays she could be found bowling, and she spent many afternoons playing cards with her dear friends. Iowa was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in New Eagle. She worked in the church nursery, sharing her love of Jesus with the youngest of God's children. She also served on the Mission Board and was a member of the American Baptist Women's group for many years. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her son, William Hermann and wife Cheryl; daughters, Iowa Gay Chamberlain and husband Richard, Kathryn Curbo and husband Duane; sisters, Patricia Large and husband Wes, Gail Mordecki and husband Tony; brother, Harold Cutright and wife Jenny; sister-in-law, Vicki Cutright; grandchildren, Jared Hermann, Amber McGavitt, Randi Cameron, Tim Uranga, Terry Uranga, Patricia Hill, Jessica Fitzgerald, Trevor Curbo, Devan Barbara, and Brenna Wright; twenty three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Hermann who passed away September 10, 2015; daughter, Patricia Hermann Burns; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Rice and husband James, Belinda Rice and husband Samuel; brother, George Cutright; grandson, Troy Uranga.
