Jane Shannon Ward, 99, of Monongahela, formerly of Finleyville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in the Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela. She was born June 8, 1921 in Wilson, the daughter of J. William and Mary Carolyn Smith Shannon.

In her younger years, Jane was employed at the Bell Telephone Company and West Penn Power, both in Monongahela. She was an instructor for fifteen years at the former Three Rivers School of Business in Uniontown and Pittsburgh. Jane also worked at the Finleyville Furniture Store. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Finleyville. She was an active volunteer at the Monongahela Area Library for many years and was a member of the Monongahela Chapter 108 Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Lee Long of Monongahela, Sallie Ann Carrera and husband John of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Eugene Long, Jennifer Long, Gregory Long and wife Melissa, Katherine Carrera and husband Jason Bartz, Christine Carrera and husband Paul Salierno; great granddaughter, Saleen Long; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Clark Ward who died November 9, 1995; daughter, Susan Lynne Ward who died Nov. 29, 2013; and a sister, Evelyn S. Schettler.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 4-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Kevin Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
