John Butti, 100, of Monongahela, died Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was born October 5, 1921 in Morgan, the son of Giovanni and Marianina Cozzi Butti.
John owned and operated the Valley Inn Lounge from 1971 to 1986. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle in Monongahela and was a US Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was well known for his homemade raviolis and pasta that he took great enjoyment in making for others.
He is survived by his daughter, Carole Grant and husband Bill of Viera, FL; grandsons, Jeffrey Grant of Myrtle Beach SC, William Grant of Brodheadsville, Daniel Grant of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughter, Sarah Hunter Gilling of Forrest City, NC; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley LeClair Butti who died November 2, 2017; son, Michael Butti Hunter, three brothers, Elmer, Guido, and Edward Butti; two sisters, Margaret Baxter and Mary Loncaric.
Inurnment was in the Monongahela Cemetery.
