Kathleen Lynn
Slivan
Sep 29, 1967 — May 6, 2026
Jefferson Hills
Kathleen Lynn Slivan, 58, of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 29, 1967, in West Chester, the daughter of Frank "Shine" Massari and the late Karen Pianetti Massari.
Kathleen was a graduate of Mon Valley Catholic High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from California University, with a major in finance and a minor in accounting. She was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish-St. Thomas A'Becket Church in Jefferson Hills. She owned and operated the Mt. Oliver and Bethel Park Foodlands and the Duquesne Save-A-Lot.
Kathleen had a zest for life. Her pride and joy was Sofia. Kathleen loved watching Sofia play volleyball. They shared a special mother/daughter bond that can never be broken. She loved her family, friends, flowers (but not pink carnations), baking, Autumn, vacationing in Clearwater, FL, Fortnite, Tanner, and Remmi. She loved all animals and would often go out of her way to find a lost dog. She was proud and passionate about her Italian heritage, passing on and teaching Sofia how to make her Noni's favorite recipes. Kathleen was a very loyal and caring friend to many and was never afraid to speak her mind. Kathleen had the ability to know when to listen, when to make you laugh, and especially knew when somebody needed to be "investigated".
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jim Slivan with whom she celebrated twenty years of marriage on May 20, 2025; daughter, Sofia Slivan; sister, Lisa Massari-Wilson; Goddaughter, Mia Wilson; brother, Frank L. (Stefanie) Massari; sister-in-law, Cindy (Robert) Swiklinski; brother-in-law, Jeff (Kathy) Slivan.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her Godfather, Anthony D. "Moe" Massari.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish-St. Thomas A'Becket Church, 139 Gill Hall Road, Jefferson Hills, PA with the Rev. William Terza as celebrant. Interment will be private. Kathleen will be laid to rest in the Massari family plot in the Monongahela Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to her favorite doctor, Dr. Agha, and the nurses at Hillman Cancer Center for the way they treated Kathleen. She quickly became everyone's favorite patient.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts may be directed to the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Please make checks payable to the University of Pittsburgh. Gifts may be mailed with a memo indicating that this gift is in memory of Kathleen Slivan, to UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
