Lena D. Ballein's Obituary
Lena D. Ballein, 91, of New Eagle, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Manor Care, McMurray. She was born August 9, 1927 in Monongahela, the daughter of Guy and Carmella Mariani Vignoli.
Lena was a retired seamstress of twenty years at the former Donora Sportswear and a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela. In her younger years, she and her husband Paul enjoyed dancing. Lena was always happy to be around her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Donald Ballein of Monongahela; two grandchildren, Raymond P. Calfo, Jr. and wife Catherine and Alyssa Ballein; great granddaughter, Paula Calfo; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Ballein who died July 31, 2012; daughter, Paula Kusmierek; daughter-in-law, Kathie Ballein; four brothers, Philip, Patsy, Justine and Sam Vignoli; and four sisters, Mary Merolillo, Louise Frankowic, Rose Fidanzato and Angeline Rose.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 2-4 and 6- 8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Damien of Molokai Church with the Rev. William Terza, pastor as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
