Obituary

Linda J. Dickey passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025 at the Southwestern Veterans Center in Pittsburgh.

Linda was married to her late husband, Ody, for over 65 years. She was a resolute wife and loving mother who raised 2 sons, Ody and Kevin, to be successful adults. She was immensely proud of and loved her seven grandchildren very much. She enjoyed all types of music, but was particularly fond of Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, The Supremes, Temptations, and Judy Garland to name a few. Early in life, she liked to sing and performed in a few shows during her military travels with her husband and children.

After completion of high school, she joined her husband on their 21-year journey in the USAF. Her travels were worldwide and although the moves were frequent and chaotic at times, she always made the best of it and held the family together. She lived in California, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, The Republic of the Philippines, and finally ended back in New Eagle, Pennsylvania upon her husband's retirement from the USAF.

Linda worked a myriad of jobs during her 21 years of military time beside her husband. During this time in the military, families were often moved every 2 to 3 years, so it was extremely hard to settle into a long-term career. She was a bank teller, civil service employee, cashier, and most importantly a great mother and wife to her sons and husband. After returning home, she helped with the family bar and hotel and worked for 15 years at a local grocery store as a cashier and head manager. She also managed the family apartment buildings in Donora that her husband, Ody, and son, Kevin, purchased together in the early 2000s.

She was a loyal friend and really enjoyed hanging out with her close friend, Joan, who she cared for very much. She wasn't a fan of big government and didn't believe that people were owed anything by anybody. She was a great sister to her siblings, and she loved all of them very much.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Ody A. Dickey, Jr. and her granddaughter, Ashley.
