Mary Galloway's Obituary
Mary Galloway, 100, of Monongahela, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 in her home. She was born November 18, 1916 in Elrama, the daughter of Georgius and Katharina Mayor Madej.
Mary was the oldest member of the Elrama United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher. While she was a resident of the Monongahela High Rise, she held the office of Treasurer of the Monongahela Manor Tenants Association. She was a volunteer at the Monongahela Memorial Hospital in New Eagle and also gave of her time to Meals-on-Wheels. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bingo, baseball and bowling.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Jim (Pat O'Barto) Galloway of Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Cathy Galloway of Idaho; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Nick Nickolich) Galloway, Michelle (Ken) Monte, Denise (Tony DiMatteo) Kohut, Keith (Nicole), Kirk (Paula Pappas) and Wade (Jennifer) Galloway, Lynne (Phil) Windley, Kim Vitelli,Tracy Gibbons; twenty three great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ron Galloway; daughter-in-law, Nancy Galloway; brother, Harry Madej; and sister, Rose Zajack.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 4-8 PM and on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Hal Dangel officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Elrama United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 192, Elrama, PA 15038.
