Mary L. Garris, 94, of New Eagle, died Monday, September 3, 2018 in her daughter's home. She was born June 30, 1924 in New Stanton, the daughter of John Lester and Mary Black Hazel. Mary was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church in New Eagle. She retired after thirty years as a business manager for the Ringgold School District. After retirement, she was employed part time at Levin Furniture Store in the South Hills and also volunteered for twenty eight years with the Monongahela Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth K. Dermont and husband Edward Joseph and Judith L. Brice and husband John, all of New Eagle; three grandchildren, Bridgett Nobili and husband Jeffrey, Josh Dermont and Candice Curry; great granddaughter, Alessandra Nobili; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earl Garris; five sisters, Janet Dunlap, Elinar Anthony, Helen Delaney, Jane Kester and Jessie Powell; four brothers, Glenn, Kenneth, Morton and John Hazel.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Those planning on attending the funeral service are asked to meet at the Riverview Baptist Church, 405 Main Street in New Eagle on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Bruce Moses officiating.
