Richard L. Charlton, Sr., 80, of Monongahela, died Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 23, 1942 in New Eagle, the son of Edward and May Neill Charlton.

Richard was a member of First United Methodist Church in Monongahela. He was a peacetime veteran having served in the US Army. Richard retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Allenport after 35 years of employment. He was a member of the NRA and the Mingo Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by two sons, Christopher and David Charlton; eight grandchildren, David Jr., Joseph, Samantha, Angela, Keely, RJ and Kelly Charlton, Amy Leanne Swank and Derrick Andress; six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Kelly Charlton who died June 6, 2000; and a son, Richard L. Charlton, Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will be private in the Monongahela Cemetery.
