Richard Louis Scaglione, 83, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born September 16, 1933 in New Eagle, the son of Louis and Rose Angela  Rullo Scaglione.
Richard was a graduate of Monongahela High School and earned his master degree in Education from California State College. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ, Richard was an Evangelist for the church and devoted much of his time to missionary work. He formerly was a chaplain for the GMBA Youth Group in his church and currently serves on the board of directors of the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center in Pittsburgh.
Richard loved spending time with his family. He also loved writing poems. On every holiday and special occasion, he wrote a poem for his wife, Lucetta, as well as for his children and grandchildren on their wedding days. Sundays were special days in the Scaglione home, spending it with  family, enjoying pasta dinners and telling them corny jokes. Rich would talk to anyone who would listen and showed everyone all of his pictures from his missionary trips. He had his own facebook ministry where he kept in touch with all of his missionary acquaintances.
