Ronald Alvin Edwards, 81, of Finleyville, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024 in his home with his family by his side. He was born April 6, 1943 in New Eagle, the son of Alvin and Mae Castor Edwards.

Ronald attended Elrama School and graduated from Monongahela High School. He served in the National Guard Reserve for two years.

He was an excellent mechanic all of his life, working for Vickers Chevrolet in Finleyville and Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake in West Mifflin and Monroeville for 20 years. He was also employed as a truck mechanic for the Pittsburgh Press and Post Gazette.

He enjoyed camping in Erie with all the family, boating in his 18 ft runabout, and traveling in his motorhome. Ronald loved classic cars and enjoyed going to car and RV shows in Pittsburgh. He liked taking rides on his bike in Erie and at Shenango Lake.

He was a good man and loved his family. He helped everyone as much as he could. Ronald loved life and was always happy.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Myers Edwards, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 30, 2024; two daughters, Rhonda (Jim) Mucci of Monongahela, Renee Edwards of Finleyville; two grandchildren, Lindsay Mucci (Anthony Lazzari) and Justin (Stephanie) Mucci; two great grandchildren, Maddie and Austin Mucci; brother, Derrel (Sandy) Edwards of Charleroi; niece, Tara Lynn Edwards; nephew, Chris (Jen) Edwards; great niece, Maria; many cousins; faithful dog, Freeway, who would always lay at his feet to comfort him.

The family would like to send their gratitude to the great nurses and aides at Amedisys Hospice who took such good care of Ronald, and to a very special nurse who was just the best and helped their family so much.

Friends will be received on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Frye Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery, Finleyville.
