Obituary

Ronald E. "Zurch" Zurenski, 69, of Monongahela, died on October 7, 2024 in Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills.

Born on May 12, 1955, he was the devoted son of the late Frank S. and Mary Jane Mitchell Zurenski and spent much of his earlier years taking exemplary care of both parents through lengthy illnesses.

A 1973 graduate of Ringgold High School, Zurch purchased what was to become Zurch's Bar in 1986 and owned and operated it until 1994. He was additionally employed at US Steel, Clairton Works and at the Monongahela Valley Hospital.

Zurch was an avid gardener, never missing the opportunity to plant a robust summer vegetable garden, and was happy to spend hours each day outside. He was also a skilled woodworker and regularly sold his pieces and crafts around the region. Although he was fond of his hobbies, his most cherished time was spent with his family. He was immensely proud of his children and fiercely loved and doted on his grandchildren, spending much of their time together sharing his love of the outdoors. Zurch loved hosting large family gatherings at his home and relished the opportunity to connect with others.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Pasini Zurenski, with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage in September; children (twins) Matthew Zurenski (Carlos Santos) of Chicago, Illinois and Melissa (Patrick) Trilli of Monongahela; grandchildren, Alena and Lorenzo Trilli, and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank A. Zurenski. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, 427 W Main Street, Monongahela where a blessing service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12:00 PM with the Rev.
