Sherry Ross Baker's Obituary
Sherry L. Ross Baker, 61, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Monongahela, passed away on November 2, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. She was born February 28,1957 in New Eagle, the daughter of Shirley Scott Ross who survives and resides in Charleroi and the late John Ross.
Sherry grew up in Monongahela and graduated from Ringgold High School in 1975 and California State College in 1980, with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. Sherry taught one year in Florida and then for San Diego, California, where she worked for Nutri-system as a nutritionist and later at an eyeglass store. After fourteen years in California, Sherry left the life that she loved in La Jolla, California and came back to Monongahela with her dog, Hershey, to selflessly take care of her father, which enabled him to live an additional eighteen years. During that time, Sherry worked as a teacher in the Ringgold school district in both the elementary and middle schools. Sherry was passionate, generous and outgoing and she touched the lives of everyone around her. She lit up the room with her vivacious personality and laugh. She was an avid dog lover and enjoyed an active lifestyle. Sherry loved the beach and living in Florida with her husband Mark. She had a natural talent in interior decorating and loved helping her husband design and decorate many properties.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Mark Baker of Charleroi; brother, Kent Scott Ross; two nephews, Justin and Scotty Ross; and a niece, Gina Ross.
Sherry's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of her friends, the Ringgold school district for always sending cards and prayers and a special thank you to the Ross family and their descendants for their love and support during these last years of Sherry's life.
A memorial service to celebrate Sherry's life is planned for 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Monongahela Cemetery chapel, 800 Country Club Road, Monongahela, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Sherry requested memorial donations be made in Hershey Ross's name to Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, 390 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Meadowlands, PA 15347.
