Vera  Fredericks, 93, of New Eagle, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the Haven Crest Nursing Home, Monongahela. She was born May 11, 1923 in New Eagle, the daughter of Dewey and Stella Bane DeCooman.
During World War II, Vera was employed by US Steel, Clairton Works. She enjoyed sewing, especially for weddings and making dance costumes. Not only did Vera raise her own children, but was also "mom" to all of her children's friends as well.
She is survived by her son, John "Jay" Fredericks, Jr. and wife Betty of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Judy Vignoli of New Eagle, Debbie Ciepiela and husband Mark of Rock Hill, SC; six grandchildren, Karen Meyers and husband Nick, Jay Fredericks and wife Jamie, Billy and Sandie Gerba, Bryan Vignoli, Cory Ciepiela; two great grandchildren, Haley Meyers, Devin Sitte and wife April; great great grandson, Michael Thomas Sitte; sister, Joanne Uddstrom of New Eagle; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Fredericks, Sr. who died May 25, 1984; two brothers, Francis "Bud" DeCooman, Dewey "Sonny" DeCooman; and two sisters, Nora Richardson and Alice Louttit.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The Frye Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
