Virginia J. "Ginny" Summers, 76, of Donora, died on Monday, June 8, 2026 at her daughter's home in Fallowfield Township. Born November 17, 1949, in New Eagle, she was the daughter of William and Margaret Pemberton Kearns.

Ginny was a Uniontown High School graduate, class of 1967 and was Catholic by faith. She dedicated many years to helping others, working in the kitchen at the former Mon Valley Catholic High School, then as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Country Meadows in Bridgeville. She retired as an Emergency Department Technician at the Monongahela Valley Hospital.

Ginny enjoyed bowling, playing cards, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and she loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She often joked that she was a cornucopia of useless information. Anytime you saw Ginny, she most certainly had a Diet Coke in her hand. Most of all, she lived for her grandchildren; they were the apple of her eye.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Melissa (Paul) Shawley of Fallowfield Township; son, Dan Evans at home; five cherished grandchildren, Victoria (Tyler) Wiest, Zackariah Shawley, Ryan Evans, Judy Evans, and John McConell; sister, Elizabeth Gutierrez of San Diego, California; and two brothers, Russell (Tina) Kearns of Brownsville and William (Lisa) Kearns of Charleroi; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Evans; her second husband, Earl John Summers; and her brother, Thomas Kearns.

The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice nurses, Tracey, Melissa and Janet for the loving and compassionate care that was given to Ginny in her final days.
